Family Carers Ireland will ask carers to nominate others to step in, in their place.
Carers will now be able to carry a card that alerts others in case of an emergency, that someone is dependent on them.
A care plan detailing all of the individual's needs is filled out by carers and given to Tullamore based Family Carers Ireland.
Carers will then need to carry the emergency card with them at all times.
