Offaly County Council To Take Over Administration Of Just Transition Fund

But there are calls for assurances that extra funding will be provided for the work.

Offaly County Council looks set to take on administration of the Just Transition Fund, possibly later this year. 

Ongoing discussions with the Department of the Environment are considering starting resources, a transition plan from the Department to the Council, and an office for the team. 

Managing the fund is being described as a significant addition to the council's workload and they say it's critical that extra funding is provided. 

Fianna Fáil councillor Peter Ormond wants to make sure the local authority won't be expected to fund the work from its own budget down the line:
