Three vans and two smaller vehicles are included in the additions.
Offaly County Council is welcoming the addition of five new electric vehicles to its fleet.
Three of those are large Ford Transit Vans, which will provide housing maintenance to over a quarter of the local authority's social housing stock located in the Tullamore and Birr Municipal District areas.
The two smaller electric will be used in the towns of Tullamore and Birr by caretakers for duties associated with our corporate buildings.
The addition of the Zero Emission vehicles is part of Offaly County Council's commitment to taking climate action and protecting the environment.
Senior Engineer of Roads and Infrastructure Barry Lennon says they're assisting in the delivery of Ireland's ambitious targets in the National Climate Action Plan:
"Offaly County Council continues to roll out EV charging points as part of the Department of Transport Zero Emission Vehicles Ireland initiative which supports consumers, the public sector, and businesses to continue to make the switch to zero emission vehicles."
