Offaly Remains Number One County For Burning Solid Fuels

New CSO figures reveal how Ireland householders heat their homes.

More homes are heated with solid fuels in Offaly than any other county in Ireland.

New figures from Central Statistics Office show one in five homes in the county are heated with turf, timber or coal.

Laois and Westmeath are both next on the list at 12 per cent each.

Oil is the most popular option across the midlands, with it used to heat about half of all homes in the region.

C3 is the most common Building Energy Rating in Westmeath. Laois and Offaly are slightly better at C2.
