Offaly TD Raises Concerns Over Patient Safety At Beaumont Hospital

The hospital received 2,050 complaints in the first half of 2026.

An Independent Offaly TD is raising concerns over patient safety at Beaumont Hospital following thousands of complaints recorded in recent years. 

The hospital received 3,558 complaints in 2023, 4,452 in 2024, 3,916 in 2025 and 2,050 in the first half of 2026.

Deputy Carol Nolan says 64 people from Offaly are currently accessing Beaumont’s neurology and epilepsy services, with families reporting overcrowding, long delays and poor communication.

She's also highlighting concerns about inpatient care, including missed hydration, inadequate nutrition, falls and limited neuropsychology support.

Deputy Nolan says the figures point to systemic pressure and is calling for urgent action from the HSE, Government and Beaumont Hospital to improve services:
