It happened on Tullamore's Clara Road at around lunchtime today.
Motorists are being advised of an oil spill in Offaly.
The spill is on the Clara Road near Tullamore and is believed to have taken place around 1pm this afternoon.
A clean-up team from the county council is currently attending the scene.
Gardai in Tullamore are advising the public to proceed with caution in the area.
