Oireachtas Golf Society President Will Co-Operate Fully With Garda Investigation

The President of the Oireachtas Golf Society has apologised for the event in Galway on Wednesday.

Speaking to the Westmeath Examiner, Castlepollard's Donie Cassidy said the dinner was held under guidance approved by the Irish Hotels Federation.

The hotel group say the advice is multiple gatherings can be held in the same venue as long as there is seperate entrances and toilets.

Mr Cassidy says he'll co-operate fully with the Garda investigation, and it wasn't their intention to disregard public health advice.

Meanwhile, the EU Commissioner Phil Hogan is facing mounting pressure to resign after attending an Oireachtas Golf Society event in Galway during the week.

Labour Leader Alan Kelly says he knew the rules when attending and that his position is untenable.

Phil Hogan has apologised for attending, along with several other TDs and Senators while Dara Calleary has stepped aside from cabinet.
