More than one in ten people in the midlands volunteered in 2022.
Analysis of the Census by the CSO has found over 38,000 people in the region were involved in one or more volunteering activity that year.
Around the country, that figure is over 700,000, which amounts to 14% of the population.
Sporting organisations saw the highest number of volunteers in 2022, representing 6% of the total number of people in Ireland.
