Pieta is confirming a funding shortfall is behind the decision to change its outreach services in Westmeath.
The suicide prevention charity says inflation and cost of living increases requires it to start a cost saving plan to help ensure its long term sustainability.
As part of the plan, three of its centres will move to a co-located outreach model, including Athlone.
Reports indicate this will result in a closure of in person support at the Midlands facility until a new co-located service is established.
