President Michael D. Higgins says local radio stations play a vital role in contributing to Irish music.
He was speaking as Irish Music Month is confirmed to return this September, which will see participating stations, including Midlands 103, feature Irish music strongly throughout the month.
The initative aims to significantly increase the number of plays for Irish artists.
