16 probationer gardaí, stationed in the midlands during the covid-19 crisis, have been presented with their official garda identification badges.
The gardaí were allocated to the Laois/Offaly Division from the Garda College in Templemore at the beginning of the outbreak, to provide extra personnel.
They were stationed at Portlaoise, Edenderry, Tullamore, Mountmellick, Portarlington and Mountrath.
Chief Superintendent John Scanlan and Superintendent Anthony Pettit commended them on their professionalism and dedication during the crisis, at a ceremony in Portlaoise earlier today.
