Seven skunks were captured and removed near protected bogland in Kildare this year.
Questions around whether there's skunk breeders in the Midlands will have to be asked.
That's according to Offaly County Council Biodiversity Officer Ricky Whelan, after the capture and disposal of seven skunks near protected bogland in Kildare this year.
The striped skunk is not considered native to Ireland, with the National Parks Wildlife Service asking the public to report any future sightings immediately.
