The breakdown truck was stopped while transporting a car on the M7, where it was discovered the driver had no tax or NCT.
The motorist held the incorrect category of license to be driving a recovery vehicle, which was also found to be overweight.
The truck has been seized by Gardaí and the driver is due to appear before the courts.
