A housing charity has taken over plans to redevelop the site.

A site of frequent anti-social behaviour in the midlands is one step closer to regeneration.

Housing charity Clúid has taken over plans for Hepburn Court in Portlaoise, which has been vacant for over 10 years, for a fee of €500,000.

50 modular homes are to be developed on the site, with construction expected to take about 15 months.

Local Sinn Féin councillor Caroline Dwane Stanley says the estate became a hotspot for criminal behaviour:
