Regional Sludge Hub Plans Coming ''Through Back Door''

A local residents group in Westmeath are against the idea for a number of reasons.

Plans to select a waste treatment plant in Mullingar as a regional sludge hub have come ''through the back door''. 

That's the view of a local residents group - who say the closest house to the potential facility is just twenty three metres. 

Irish Water have identified 7 sites which also include Portlaoise and Tullamore as possible locations for the new plant for the East Midlands. 

Secretary of Newbrook Grove & Newbrook Drive residents association Breda Keeley says the move will have a huge impact locally:
