The Moate clothes shop has seen dwindling turnover ever since the town's Bank was closed.
A Westmeath boutique has joined the growing list of businesses closing down in the midlands.
La Carm Boutique in Moate closed its doors for last time yesterday after seven years trading in the town, and another eight years in Tullamore.
The shop's owner Carmel Powell is citing falling footfall and rising costs, as well as the departure of the town's Bank of Ireland branch in 2021.
Ms Powell added that post-pandemic trading conditions were difficult as wedding-related custom failed to bounce back.
A number of businesses in the region have gone to the wall in the first few weeks of 2024 including S & S Soap Sisters in Portlaoise, the Corner House Bistro in Athlone and Kafe U in Clara.
