A lorry carrying logs overturned on the N80 Mountmellick to Portlaoise road at about 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon.
The driver, a man in his 50s, was taken to Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise as a precaution, and is in a stable condition, according to gardaí.
The road remained closed overnight but has reopened since about 3 o'clock this morning.
