Three Midlands Towns Selected In €15.5m Failte Ireland Project

It focuses on improving each site's appeal to tourists.

Three towns in the Midlands have been selected as part of a €15.5m Failte Ireland initiative.

Birr, Athlone and Portlaoise will receive up to €500,000 each as part of the destination town scheme.

The aim is to improve tourism infrastructure in each location to make it more attractive to visitors.

Offaly and Westmeath councils will get their funding immediately while Laois will have to wait until the spring of 2020.
