Three Year Effort To Fix Athlone's Water System Saving Five Million Litres A Day

Residents and businesses in the town have been facing regular water outages for years.

A three year effort to fix leaks in Athlone's water system is saving five million litres of water every day. 

The programme is part of a €500 million national effort to address Ireland's aging system of pipes. 

It included 751 individual backyard service connections and the installation of almost 30 kilometres of new water mains across the town.
