Two Drivers In Midlands Caught Exceeding Limit By Over 40kmph

They were caught in 50 and 80kmph zones.

An Garda Siochana is expressing concern at the increasing number of people being detected speeding on Irish roads.

A group of 20 detections last week included a driver travelling at 101kmph in a 50 zone in Clara and another motorist doing 121 kmph in an 80 zone in Corr in Westmeath.

Latest figures show the number pedestrians killed on Irish roads has doubled in the first four months of this year to 16 when compared with the same period of 2019.

The numbers also show that six pedestrians have died alone since schools closed in March.
