The lake, which supplies water to over 50,000 homes and businesses, is at its lowest recorded level for this time of the year, in eight years.
Over 50,000 customers across Westmeath are being urged to conserve their water to protect supply.
Uisce Eireann is making the appeal as levels in Lough Owel are at their lowest for this time of year in eight years.
The lake serves people in the Mullingar, Ballynacarrigy, Moate, Rathowen, Streete, Killucan, Coralstown, Kinnegad, Milltownpass, Tyrrellspass and Kilbeggan areas.
