"Unacceptable And Shocking" - Taoiseach Reacts To HSE Personal Data Breaches

Paper medical records were found abadoned across multiple sites all over the country.

The Taoiseach says the mishandling of personal medical data by the HSE is "unacceptable and shocking".

The health service was hit with a 645 thousand euro fine after a vast number of documents containing people's medical information were found stored  St Loman's Hospital in Mullingar - a former psychiatric hospital contaminated with asbestos.

Data Protection Commission Officers carried out 12 site inspections nationwide finding that the issue was systemic.

The fine comes with a reprimand and a number of corrective orders.
