A massive virtual fundraiser is kicking off in the midlands today.
The 5k for 50k event is aiming to raise €5,000 each for ten different charities - including six in Westmeath and Offaly.
In keeping with covid guidelines, you're asked to run or walk 5k in your LOCAL area and donate online.
The event spans over five weekends, with each weekend focused on two particular charities - and kicks off today with St. Hilda's, Athlone and Good2Talk, Mullingar.
Director of Arcadia Retail Park in Athlone, Fiachra McLoughlin says if the €50,000 target is reached, he'll add another €10,000 to the pot:
