Joe Drennan's family are calling for an appeal of the sentence of the man found guilty of dangerous driving, causing his death.
A community "walk for justice" is taking place in Laois this weekend.
The event is being held to highlight a campaign by Joe Drennan's family, to pressure the Director of Public Prosecution to appeal the sentence handed down to the man responsible for the Mounrath student's death.
The former Limerick Voice editor, was killed in a hit and run incident in October of 2023.
21 year old Kieran Fogarty of Hyde Avenue, Ballinacurra Weston, Limerick received a six-and-a-half year sentence for the crime.
However, that sentence will run concurrently with another longer sentence for a separate offence.
The walk will take place on Sunday at 1pm, at Saint Fintain's GAA Pitch in Mountrath.
