Nearly 150 motorists have already been caught speeding on National Slowdown Day.
Among those caught was a driver travelling at 120 km/h in a 80km/hr zone on the N52 road in Mounthenry, Birr, Offaly with another travelling at 163 km/h in a 120km/hr zone on the M6 road in Killavally, Tyrrellspass, Westmeath.
A third motorist has been caught driving 98 km/h in an 80km/h zone on the N52 in Birr.
The Garda operation runs until midnight tonight, and is aimed at reminding people of the risks of speeding.
185 people have been killed in road crashes so far in 2025, 17 more than this time last year.
