A member from the Federation of Irish Beekeepers Association in Offaly is warning the public about the discovery of Asian hornets in the country.
A nest of Asian hornets was discovered in Cork by the National Parks and Wildlife Service during the week.
They are not know to act aggressively in their day to day activities, and the danger only rises when someone is near the nest.
The economic impact of invasive species across countries in the EU is estimated to be around 12 billion euro per year.
