Athlone Councillor Frankie Keena is seeking further measures after an accident on a crossing outside Cornamaddy National School.
A Westmeath councillor wants to see safety measures brought in after a young student was hit by a car on a pedestrian crossing.
The young girl is currently recovering from minor injuries from the incident which took place on Woodville Road outside the Cornamaddy National School.
Athlone Councillor Frankie Keena says the condition of the crossing is currently in a dire state.
