A formal apology was given to the family of Maria Fitzpatrick from the HSE on behalf of Portiuncula Hospital last November.
The husband of a Westmeath woman who passed away from a late cancer diagnosis is describing a HSE statement on her death as "cowardly."
Mother of four Maria Fitzpatrick from Collinstown passed away at the age of 36 on March 13th 2009.
Her husband Kevin sued the HSE over her death, and it was later found correctly diagnosed smear tests could have saved her life.
Their son Darren took his own life at the age of 19 almost nine years later, before a settlement and formal apology from Portiuncula University Hospital last November.
The family's barrister was the one to read out the statement sent into court on behalf of the HSE.
