Public reps in Athlone want to dedicate a road, street, or bridge in the late politician's name.
Westmeath Councillors are seeking to honour the memory of the late Mary O'Rourke by naming a piece of infrastructure in her memory.
It's hoped the gesture would recognise her contribution to local and national politics.
Her son Aengus currently serves as a councillor in Athlone, with his colleagues saying they will consult with him and the family on the matter.
