Campaigners are using the event to highlight the importance of mental health.
A Darkness Into Light launch event is taking place in a Westmeath town this Bank Holiday weekend.
The annual walk takes place on Saturday May 9th this year, with those taking part walking from Mullingar Rugby Club to the Midlands Regional Hospital.
An official launch night takes place this Easter Monday at 7:30pm from the Annebrook Hotel.
Donal Coade, who suffered a brain tumour in 2011, is the Chairman of Pieta House for Mullingar.
