Westmeath Driver Banned For Three Years And Fined €500 After Drink-Driving Offence

32 year old Donatas Virkutis was also driving without a license or insurance.

A Westmeath construction worker is being banned from driving and fined €500 after pleading guilty to driving his friend's car while nine times over the legal limit.

Gardaí say 32 year old Donatas Virkutis from The Close, Lakepoint Park, Mullingar was arrested after being seen swerving from side to side at Robinstown in Mullingar on December 20th last year, according to the Irish Independent.

He was also driving without a license or insurance.

When brought to the town's Garda station, he produced a breath sample of 78 mircogrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath.

Mullingar District Court heard Mr Virkutis deeply regretted what happened on the night in question.

Judge John Brennan fined the Lithuanian national €400 for the charge of drink driving, and a €100 for driving without a license.

He's also facing a mandatory three year driving ban.
