A Westmeath man is aiming to become the first Irish man to complete an unsupported skiing expedition to the South Pole.
Darren Slevin, accompanied by his friend Nathan Lamb, will undertake the 2,200km round trip from the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole next November.
The pair will face temperatures as low as -40 degrees, while carrying their own food, fuel and equipment.
Mr Slevin says although he's always wanted to keep moving on to bigger things, this could be the final adventure:
