Westmeath Man Fined For Being 200km From His Home

Gardai are reminding the public that those outside of their 5km could face a €100 penalty.

Gardaí are issuing a reminder that anyone caught travelling outside their 5 kilometres for non-essential reasons will be fined.

It comes after a Westmeath man was caught over 200 kilometres away in West Cork over the weekend.

Gardaí now have the power to issue 100 euro on the spot fines, to ensure compliance with public health guidelines.
