Mullingar ETIC will construct a new structure.
A Westmeath town is set for a major jobs boost after plans for a food industry hub have been given the green light.
Mullingar Enterprise Technology and Innovation Centre (METIC) will construct a two story structure for the development of four light industrial units for start-ups & incubation enterprises.
Plans also include a coffee dock, parking and electrical re-charging points.
Currently the centre leases space to several businesses at the site with the current building now at full capacity.
The architects behind the project believe the likes of 2210 Patisserie, Bell Lane Coffee and Nana’s Bakery would be potential leasing candidates.
It comes after METIC conducted research which found a number of food businesses were in need of rentable space.
The proposal is being given the go-ahead subject to conditions.
