The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations.
Over the past week, Revenue officers seized contraband with an estimated value of over €4 million in various operations in The Midlands,Dublin, Cork and Rosslare Europort.
The detections were made as a result of risk profiling and intelligence led operations, and included the following:
- Tobacco products, with an estimated value of over €3.7 million and representing a potential loss to the exchequer of over €2.9 million,
- 70 counterfeit items with an estimated value of over €172,800,
- 3.6kg of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of over €72,900,
- Over 2,120 litres of alcohol with an estimated value of over €22,700 representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €12,200,
- 338g of butane honey oil, with an estimated value of over €6,830,
- 38g of heroin, with an estimated value of over €5,280,
- Various other illicit drugs, with an estimated value of over €12,310.
Included in the tobacco products seized was over four million cigarettes at Dublin Port on 09/03/2026. The seizure was made following routine risk profiling, with the assistance of detector dog Milo and the use of Revenue’s mobile X-ray scanner. The cigarettes, branded ‘Richmond King Size' and 'Lambert & Butler Original’, were discovered in a trailer that had arrived from Rotterdam.
The herbal cannabis and illicit drugs seizures were made as a result of risk profiling with assistance of detector dogs Sam & Ciara. The parcels originated from the USA, France, the UK and Canada and were destined for various addresses nationwide.
The counterfeit goods were seized as they were confirmed by the Rights Holder to have infringed on Intellectual Property Rights.
Investigations into all seizures are ongoing.
