Orla Scally appeared in Court charged with allowing controlled drugs to be possessed on her property.

A Westmeath woman is being accused of hosting a drugs party which led to a two year old consuming cocaine, according to the Irish Independent.

52 year old Orla Scally from Kilgarven, the Glebe in Fardrum appeared in Athlone District Court to face a charge of knowingly permitting the possession of controlled drugs in her property between October 25th and 28th last year.

The court heard the toddler was brought to Portiuncula Hospital after taking a quantity of cocaine at Ms Scally's home.

From there, she was transferred to Dublin's Temple Street Hospital in a critical condition.

After five days she was released and has made a full recovery.

The State's evidence centres on CCTV footage, and mobile phone data which show cocaine was being used and stored at the home of Ms Scally.

A follow up search of her home led to the discovery of a small amount of the drug on her bedside locker.

Athlone District Court also heard two more people are to be sent forward for trial on more serious drug charges.

Ms Scally is now remanded on bail before a sitting of Athlone District Court on October 28th.
