Saturday's event will see a range of activities from tug-o-war to signed jerseys.
A midlands community will come together this weekend to celebrate the life of a "big, humble man".
Portlaoise man Will Sherlock passed away from a brain tumour just over five months ago.
To remember Will, and to raise funds for the Cuisle Cancer Support Centre, Portlaoise Rugby Club and the Irish Prison Service are hosting a day of family activities and prize draws in Togher on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking to Midlands 103's David Hollywood, Retired Governor of Portlaoise Prison, and Director of Rugby for Portlaoise RFC, Ciaran Reilly says this weekend's event is for Will's family:
‘Will Sherlock – A Day To Remember’ will start with a variety of activities for children, including an U12s match between Portlaoise and Clane.
At 3pm, the pull of Tug O’War will be revived and, at 5pm, former colleagues, teammates and friends will engage in a ‘Tag Rugby’ match between Portlaoise and the Irish Prison Service. All players past and present are welcome.
Later in the evening, there will be an auction of rugby memorabilia, including a framed Leinster shirt signed by the squad and a La Rochelle shirt signed by Ronan O’Gara.
There will also be a ‘Monster Raffle’ with amazing prizes, including a week’s holiday in Bulgaria among many others.
