Severe flooding has been reported in other parts of the country.
A status yellow rain warning remains in place in the midlands this morning as Storm Francis hit the country overnight.
It's in effect until 9 o'clock tonight, although no flooding or major disruptions have been reported to gardaí in the region.
Motorists are urged to be extra vigilant on the roads after heavy rain.
Met Éireann say up to 60 millimetres of rain is possible by 5 o'clock this evening in Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Wexford, Cork, Kerry and Waterford, where an orange warning is in place.
A a status yellow wind warning is also in operation in the south and east.
