The action was scheduled to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
SIPTU members working at Bord na Mona Recycling are no longer taking strike action.
The decision comes after assurances were provided that employees working conditions would be protected in the event of the expected sale of the waste management service to KWD Recycling.
The union says industrial action, which was scheduled to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, has been averted after Bord na Mona management accepted the principle of protecting workers employment terms.
Talks covering "all issues" relating to a potential sale are taking place at the Workplace Relations Commission today.
