Barcelona have been actively trying to get the Brazilian off their wage bill.
Philippe Coutinho has joined Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season.
The 29 year old Brazilian leaves Barcelona and links up with his former Liverpool team-mate and new Villa boss Steven Gerrard.
Villa will also have the option to buy the playmaker, who is expected to arrive in Birmingham in the next 48 hours.
Manager Stephen Gerrard has been quick to praise his former team-mate following the announcement:
"I don't think you get a nickname as a magician if you're not a special footballer."
Welcome, Philippe Coutinho! 🙌
