Horse Racing Ireland Announced Nominations for their 2021 awards.
Athlone's Rory Cleary is in the running for one of Horse Racing Ireland's end of season awards.
He's nominated in the flat achievement category after winning his first classic this season when he partnered the Jim Bolger trained Mac Swiney to the 2,000 Guineas back in May.
It was a very popular success with his colleagues.
It was one of 10 wins from 337 rides during a season where he amassed €421,000 in prize money for his owners and trainers.
Cleary faces competition from six other trainers and jockeys for the gong.
A total of 40 nominations have been made for the 2021 Horse Racing Ireland Awards which will be presented early next month.
Suzanne Eade, interim CEO of Horse Racing Ireland, said:
“The number of nominations is a true reflection of the success enjoyed by Irish owners, trainers and jockeys in 2021. There were so many great days at home and abroad and these terrific achievements deserve to be honoured. Best of luck to all the nominees as they go forward to join our Racing Hero Award winner Rachael Blackmore on this year’s roll of honour.”
