Busy Weekend For Midlands Clubs In The Leinster Championships

Victories for Westmeath's Garrycastle and Crettyard of Laois in the Intermediate Championship.

It's been a busy weekend for midlands clubs in their respective Leinster Championships.

Westmeath Intermediate champions Garrycastle had a 0-11 to 0-9 win over Fenagh of Carlow.

It was a tight contest at  O'Moore Park between Crettyard and Fr Manning Gaels.

Deadlocked at 0-7 apiece at the break, the concession of a goal at the start of the second half proved to be a killer blow for Fr Manning Gaels as Crettyard came away with a 1-11 to 0-11 victory.

In the Junior Championship, Ballinagar got off to an impressive start away to Ballon, 2-17 to 1-11 the final score at Netwatch Cullen Park.

A mark from Evan Hunt clinched a low scoring 0-5 to 0-4 victory for Laois's Kilcavan over Dublin's Craobh Chíaráin.

Kilcavan have will have a tie against Barcelona Gaels in the last 8.

An identical scoreline in Kinnegad, where Kildare's Ellistown got the better of the amalgamated club of Castletown/ Finea/ Coole/ Whitehall by a single point.
