Alex Dunne will be against some of the best young drivers in the world this year.
Offaly's Alex Dunne is set to make his long awaited debut on the World Championship stage.
The Clonbullogue teenager will be on track on tomorrow morning in Bahrain as the F3 World Championship season begins.
Until four weeks ago, it was unclear where Alex Dunne would be racing this season.
A fortnight later Dunne was showing well in the testing timesheets in his MP Motorsport F3 car.
Despite his late notice selection, the Offaly racer is expected to make a big impression in his first full season in a World Championship.
He'll have his hands full though, Ferrari Academy product Dino Beganovic and F3 race winner from last year, Gabriele Minì are among the favourites for this year's title.
The journey beings tomorrow morning on the Sakhir International Circuit.
Practice takes place at 8am Irish time, just five hours later 30 drivers, including the Irish prodigy will be battling it out for pole position in qualifying.
It's lights out for the first race of the season at 10.15am on Friday morning, while the feature race gets underway on Saturday morning at 9.
Ultimately, they're all racing to impress the Formula One paddock, the curtain comes up on the new F1 season this weekend as well.
That race gets underway at three on Saturday afternoon.
