The Open Championship returns to Royal Portrush this time next year.
A new mural of Offaly's Shane Lowry has been unveiled in Portrush, exactly one year before the Open Championship returns to the scene of the Offaly man's greatest triumph.
The artwork, from Derry based artist Peaball, depicts a beaming Lowry with the Claret Jug after his victory at Royal Portrush in 2019.
The Clara man came closer than ever to winning a second major at the Open this year, leading the field for much of the week before having to settle for a tied 6th finish.
Lowry says he's "gutted" he didn't manage to do better but is grateful for the support shown to him during his four rounds at Royal Troon in Scotland.
The ticket ballot for The 153rd Open in 2024 is now open, and will close on Wednesday July 31st.
