The former world champion sustained terminal body damage in the previous six rounds.
TJ Doheny has lost his world title fight to the undisputed super bantanweight champion Naoya Inoue.
The Portlaoise fighter was unable to continue early in the seventh round after absorbing a barrage of body shots.
That loss is Doheny's fifth, and the 37 year old may soon call time on an illustrious career that's saw him win the IBF super bantamweight title in 2018.
Inoue has now won 25 of his 28 bouts by knockout.
