Offaly Players Acutely Aware Of Stakes Of Christy Ring Opener

They'll take on Kildare in the first round.

Offaly were first out of the hat in the Christy Ring draw but that won't necessarily guarantee them home advantage against opponents kildare. 

Officials in Croke Park say the game will take place the third weekend in October, with the semi-finals seven days later.

The final of the competition is down for the week ending 8 November.

It'll be Michael Fennelly's first championship campaign in charge following the faithful county's relegation from the Joe McDonagh cup at the hands of Kerry. 

Their captain Ben Conneely acknowledges it's a massive game for both sides:
