The Birr man's aptly named Out On Friday, ridden by Colin Keane returned the 100/30 favourite in the Caulfied Industrial Handicap in Ballybrit.
The 4 year old had previously failed to find the winners enclosure in sixteen starts under rules but a telling turn of foot off the bend saw him power up the hill to give his trainer a first winner at this years meeting.
The gielding is also entered on Sunday and speaking after the race, Byrne suggested that he will let him take his chance.
