It's a less then ideal preparation for the 19 year old.
Offaly's Alex Dunne will start his debut weekend in Formula Two with a 10-place grid penalty in both his sprint and features races in Melbourne.
It comes after his team Rodin Motorsport installed a 'non - compliant' modification that was discovered on multiple cars across the grid.
The team is insisting the the component in question offered no performance advantage, but are acknowledging their responsibility for the error.
Rodin is also apologsing to Dunne and his team mate Amaury Cordeel.
