SDLP Can't Afford To Lose McNulty - Jack Nolan

The party returned to Stormont on Saturday with just eight candidates before suspending Justin McNulty.

Controversy continues to swirl around Laois' senior football manager Justin McNulty.

It's after the SDLP MLA left Stormont early on Saturday to stand over the O'Moore County's league fixture against Wexford that evening.

That led to the party suspending the Newry/Armagh rep from the party for his early departure as the devolved institutions returned to action in Belfast.

The Belfast Telegraph is reporting that the former All Ireland winner will sit as an independent rather than vacate the seat.

Laois ran out convincing 1-19 to 0-12 winners over Wexford on Saturday evening for their second consecutive win in Division Four.

Elsewhere in the Allianz National Football League, Westmeath beat Clare by the smallest possible margin 1-11 to 0-13, while Offaly went down to Antrim in Corrigan Park 2-5 to 1-7.
