Bulfin will be taking over a side in Division One and the Joe McDonagh Cup next year.
Westmeath's new senior hurling manager will be former Meath boss, Seoirse Bulfin.
The Limerick man was ratified by a county committee last night, despite opposition to his selection.
A vote on his appointment broke his way 23 votes to 7.
Bulfin stepped down as the Royals manager after their Division 2A league campaign this year, citing personal reasons and family commitments.
Prior to that the Limerick man had spells coaching both Clare and Waterford under Davy Fitzgerald.
He succeeds Joe Fortune who announced his departure from the Lake County after this season's Joe McDonagh Cup campaign.
